Your subscription includes a profile in the freelance directory to promote your business. You get access to tools and templates to make work easy to manage. We support you with pro tips, resources and our Launch My Brand email course .

How is SelfMade different from other freelancing sites?

SelfMade is a new community from The Mom Project. We help moms start their business so they can find flexible freelance work that works for them. All freelancers are based in the United States and many of our clients are small businesses. We've created tools so you can promote your work and manage it in one space. You can work on as many projects as you like for one subscription price! Unlike other profiles, SelfMade lets you show projects, pricing, and even personality traits! We've done the work of talking to clients. Our profiles that make it easy for them to understand the value of what you do and who you are as a person! We like to think we're the friendly side of freelancing.

How do I get clients?

We like to think of it as a three-pronged approach. 1. Many clients come from small businesses in The Mom Project network. 2. We promote our freelance directory through outreach campaigns and continue to grow. 3. We strongly encourage freelancers to share their profile with their own network. We equip you with advice on doing this!

How do I interact with clients on SelfMade?

Once you join and publish your profile, it is public and discoverable. People can search for your skills in the freelance directory. You can also share it with potential clients in your network via social media and email. Clients currently do not post jobs, instead they pitch to you. They send you a message directly from your profile to tell you about their project. From there, our tools to help you build custom proposals, generate contracts, and send invoices with ease.

Are there any extra project fees?

We do not charge clients or freelancers project fees. It’s free for clients to search and unlike other places, we don’t take a cut of your project! The freelance membership to SelfMade includes tools to start and manage your business. What you do with those tools is 100% yours.
