Shani Raine Gilchrist is an experienced strategist and writer who transitioned from journalism to international policy and consulting work after providing assistance to at-risk Afghan women seeking asylum in the United States in August 2021. With over 20 years of experience in writing and advocacy, Gilchrist has shared her analysis on various platforms including Daily Beast, Longreads, NPR, and MSNBC. She has worked on issues such as refugee assistance, global food security, DEI, and challenges facing women and girls. Additionally, she has volunteered or served on boards for organizations, including the ONE Campaign’s Girls and Women initiative, the South Carolina Arts Foundation, and the AfghanEvac Coalition. She was also founding chair of One Columbia for Arts and History, an organization promoting collaboration between cultural organizations, city government, and the citizens of Columbia. Recently, she joined the Truman National Security Project as a Political Partner.
